I finally got my 2004 CTD and started poking around under the hood. In trying to figure out what I had, I looked at the sticker on the valve cover and got confused. It says "Adverstised HP: 325" Do I have the 325/610 engine?
I thought I had the 305/555 and the 325/610 didn't come out 'til '05. My truck was built in Feb of 2004 and its a 4x4, heavy duty, QC, Auto trans, 9000 GVWR.

feb 04, is probably a 325,600. the 610s were later that year for the 05 model year. the only difference for the additional 10 ftlbs is programming.

 

The change from the 305/555 to the 325/600 was Jan 1, 2004. That is when the "04.5" came out. Any truck titled as a 2004 with a build date in 2003 will be an '04. Build date in 2004 is an '04.5. There are some easy to see changes under the hood. The easiest one is the fan shroud is mounted to the radiator on the '04 and to the engine on the '04.5.
