I hope im doing right here its my first time what I have is a 2004.5 2500 diesel with a 6 speed power train with a 2006 body my problem is the ecm has a 2004.5 vin and in calif. you cant have an older engine in a newer truck so im wondering if anyone knows a buisness that customizez ecm so I can program 2004.5 ecm with a 2006 vin the pickup is all put together when I found out about ca laws

It sounds like you swapped a 2004.5 Cummins engine into your 2006 truck.
The 2004.5 Cummins ECM is completely different than the 2006 Cummins ECM.
It will never work in your 2006 truck.
Nearly everything electronically is different in the 2006 truck. ECM, CANbus, TIPM power mgmnt, the entire harness.

What I recommend is that you swap everything from your 2006 engine to your 2004.5 engine.
Swap the ECM, all the sensors, the injector wiring harness and upper rocker box and valve cover.
The 2004.5 and 2006 long blocks are identical.
