2003 going bang bang bang....
New here and just read about a grand in post all over the web and about 200 video's.
I have a 2003 250hp model. Truck got hot and now #1 is banging.
What I have done. Pulled valve cover. Removed number one's power and banging about half. Swapped number one and number two injectors and still banging on one the same.
Soaked #1 and #2 injectors over night in stanadyne and now the sound almost goes totally away when I kill #1.
No blowby at all, can't even feel it on my fingers.
No smoke out of tailpipe that is noticeable.
I have a pin hole camera with LED's that I may try and drop down in the injector hole to take a look around.
No bent rods that I can tell, they all roll straight no wobble lol
checked the valves for a dropped seat and all are perfectly level with number two.
video's, pre-soaking.
Here is my video of the issue.
Here is with the cover off and number one injector disconnected. It is way quieter but I can still hear it.
Here is me plugging and unplugging the injector.
Any idea's?
Thanks

It's my pot and I'll stir it if I want to. If you're not careful, I'll stir your's as well!

Hard to say for sure what the problem is. Maybe a broken ring? A compression check may prove or disprove this. Another thing to consider checking is to pull the oil filter and open it up and see if there is any metal inside.
Whatever you finally find, please repost so that we can all learn.

As per above I’d do a compression test. Keep in mind it’s a lot of work but will probably prove or disprove a mechanical issue. You will need an adapter if you don’t already have one. I made one on a metal lathe. Basically mimics an injector body and has a hole right through it with an air fitting on top. Pull all the injectors to do the test. I had readings of 400+ psi. Have a helper turn it over and watch how the guage
pumps up. Look for th jumps to be similar, not just the end number. When I was having issues I did a relative compression test first (electrical test) then a compression test and finally a leak down test. I was lucky and had no internal damage

Green Machine. Sure will test it. I am looking up stuff to do the testing with. I think I can make what I need and get the gauges from HF.
New situation. Have not started it in a solid three weeks. Started it today and now I have whiteish/grayish smoke coming from the crank case after a short warmup.
Also it has a solid miss and black smoke from the tail when I give it gas.
There is a ton of oil coming up and over the valves now unlike the video's above. Gauge inside is where it has been since we bought it.
Also the "slapping" now goes away when I rev it to 1.5-2k.
She just keeps throwing me curve ***** as you can clearly see no smoke at all from the crank case in OP videos.
so frign temperamental. Will update with the compression results by Friday if I can source the parts.

It's sometimes tough to unravel these issues based on the symptoms.
I feel like you're going to find it's all injector related, but it's nice to check out the rotating parts to make yourself comfortable buying expensive parts. Sure don't want to put lipstick on a pig lol. Especially expensive lipstick.
