Hello All,

Over the last few weeks I have noticed a squeak coming from what sounds like somewhere near the front end of my 2003 CTD with Auto Trasmission.

Now at first I thought it was the breaks....but I think I have ruled that out.

The squeak can not be heard when driving...I really can only hear it upon acceleration - it stops after 15 - 20 MPH.

It can also be heard when slowing down.....with or without the brakes applied.

Now this morning as a test when slowing down I shifted into Neutral....the sounds was gone until I shifted back to drive.

Last night I sprayed all the belts with Belt Dressing - just in case....but that made no difference.

Any ideas before hitting the dealer....

Hmmm,

After reading a bit on here could it be the U-Joints??

If so are these covered under the Powertrain warranty?? My Orginal 60,000 Km./3 years is up.

One more thing to add...

It does not squeak when cold....meaning after the truck has been sitting awhile.

Try spraying some WD40 on the yolks where they go into the trans and the transfer case. I had a brand new 99 Chevy 4x4 that was doing that and this is how the problem was solved.
It's worth a try....
