I have a 03 3500 swd with the 48re auto. I need to know what socket to use to trun the inside band adjuster. is it a 1/4 inch. It seams like a lot of force to put on a 1/4 socket 72pds. If you strip the bolt head how hard is it to replace? Is there more than one type of troque wrench?

 

Just to clarify, the 72lbs you refer to is inch-pounds...not foot-pounds.

 

i just tighten mine up snug and then back off accordingly. Don't get crazy, it's just to seat the band squarely on the drum so it isn't cocked to one side. I usually tighten and loosen a couple of times and then go for the final number of turns.
