hmm I dont have any synthetics in that grade that are easily accessible. The walmart here stocks 15w40 mobil synthetic but not enough of it. Every time I go there and check prices or browse they either have 1 jug left or none. The only sythetic easily accessible to me is 5w40 rotella in sythetic grades.

Rotella 5-40 is all I usually see. Never have found Mobil Turbo Diesel. Have seen RP a time or two. Rotella is not a true synthetic. It's a highly cracked and refined dino.

Talk to Herb. See what or when they are running on special. There are also different levels of buyers that may effect you.

I never understood the reason for a 15w40 synthetic. There are some excellent 5w40 synthetics available, which do better on cold starts.

Check your yellow pages under "Amsoil" and look for a distributor, even better, the warehouse in your area. Become a "preferred customer" for the best rates - it's a yearly membership, but for around $20.00 / year, it's worth it - you save most of that membership in one purchase.

I ran the Diesel & Marine 15w40 year round in my '98 and love it. Never a problem even with -40 Celcius temps up here. As soon as the '07 is broke in, there is no question to what I'll be switching to.

Live in Texas where it's 108 in the summer and might get 32*F once or twice a year.

Where do you live? At -40 Celcius up here, 15w40 Amsoil does fine on coldstarts - not being plugged in even. Then again, the only other synthetic oil I can speak from experience about at those temps., is Mobil 1 - need I have to explain why I pulled the switch to Amsoil.
