I've been contemplating this. An auto tranny kinda makes things... interesting. I'll be pulling the engine on my 04 to see what is wrong. I'll decide from there...

Been there done that in an 03. No wireing harness available that i'm aware of. Lot of jury rigging to get to factory like. The motor mounts on the driver side even needs to be fabbed or at least for the 4x4 it does..

hummm.....so by the end the wireing harness in the 03ish truck is just a hack job? i know i wouldn't be intrested in that. but the 12valve i'd be intrested in..
And IRONBREW u can get a stand alone controler for the 48re tranny..

I think it was ATS that makes them but not 100% positive but i klnow i seen them

Heard a 98 harness can be used. Somebody on the cummins forum went through this. That controller is a pricy piece. I may need tranny work too, and would at that point consider an rh.

For what it's worth, you have this to consider, depending on how tight your inspections are;
http://www.epa.gov/compliance/resour.../engswitch.pdf

This may not be an issue to you; I am not trying to be your conscience. But, it is the law, and you should at least be aware of it. According to this EPA website, you can't install an engine unless it is at least the year model of the vehicle, or newer.

i dont think thats an issue anywhere in canada...

The controller is pricey i seen it 1500 at ats but u could sell mostly everthing off of the common rail to pay for 90% of this swap..
