If you've never driven a 6.7 with the 6spd Auto with the Integral exhaust brake, now would be a bad time to do it...If you believe all of what is written in the posts , it will make you a bit nervous about one. Theres not much to go wrong on a 07 5.9 , 4 spd auto, pretty much the best of the 3rd gens with the ol 5.9. Most say that if you're going to tow at all , get the 6 spd stick(G56) better milage for sure! NO EMISSIONS ISSUES TO DEAL WITH EITHER. But, after owning my Black , megacab 4x4, dually for 46000km , (check sig) I'm a happy Man! as well , living North of the 49th , we can delete the extra equipment , improve the fuel economy , up the power , and improve the service life of the engine , without breaking federal law!

6 Speed is the 68RE, the auto for the 6.7's.

Mega's first year was 06.

You are going after a model year vehicle wait a few years if you really want a 6.7 , the mileage is terrible and the DPF issues that they've been having is worse. 5.9 vs 6.7, the 5.9 wins hands down in performance, much less mileage, driveability and overall potential, and you must consider that the 5.9 has been around the block and proven itself. As far as the transmissions the 68re is superior to the 48re only because you have more gears, and they are built to take a little more power; however, a lesser known fact is that the 48re was used in the SRT10 truck automatics, so you have a transmission that can be used for some serious performance, the autos in the 06-07 5.9s speed up quicker than the manuals, obviously but for performance and mileage around town, the manual is much better. You can purchase the exhaust brake that has become almost standard on the 6.7s for the 5.9, ask a dealer it is a MOPAR part. The short answer is that the 5.9 is superior atleast for the next few years until the work out all the issues.
