06 stick noisier than an auto?

Hi all - Just recently picked up the CTD - I've been a Duramax guy for sometime and decided it was time for a change. Anyway - It's an 06 Dually with the 6 speed stick.. I was wondering, it sound a little noisy to me outside the truck compared to my brothers 04.5 with the auto.. Is it just me? Or do I have a problem..?

Does it still have a stock clutch in it or is it an aftermarket? I know that my truck is noiser now that I have a SBC DD in mine, when it was stock it was still a little louder, but barely noticible. Another thing might be if your brother is using a form of fuel treatment that you aren't. I know mine got quieter when I started using 2-cycle oil in the fuel.

Mine seems to run quieter with Biodiesel. Even just 5%

Mine 6 speed is alot louder than a 48 RE at idle, but that is the clutch rattling around and the extra timing because of the Smarty.

No idea on the clutch. It does sound like it's rattling a bit up closer to firewall. I hope it's not valves.. she's got 38k on her and this is my first CTD.

Mine has been noisy since brand new, I now have 61,000 miles and it's still noisy. If it pulls good, gets decent mileage and doesn't leak anything... drive it and smile. BTW, I've had my valves adjusted and all 6 sticks changed and it didn't affect the noise level at all.

The two DMFs I've seen come out of trucks run at coal mines have had a lot of play like 30'-40' worth of play so I would expect them to be noisy.

The 2 piece flywheels in front of the G56 sound like something's broken.

The automatics have a resonator in the exhaust system and the manuals do not. This makes the manual louder. Don't ask me why the difference in equipment. This is on the 2006 models. Mine is a manual and my son's is an auto.

Hmmm, I'll have to look at my stock exhaust, I could have sworn my 06 G-56 had a resonator on my stock exhaust. Not really a player since I have a modded exhaust now, but interesting...
