I did a search and found that all of you do-it your self people have used 4qt's of oil in the rear Diff. Well I drained and cleaned the rear end. Put the cover and gasket back on. As I was just finishing up the 4th qt, the oil started to come out the fill hole. Now this would mean the oil was about 3/4" above the fill line on the diff cover. Sooo now what. Truck was on flat garage floor, 3:73 limited slip, 06- 2500 mega cab. Oil was mobil1 synthetic.

 

Can't remember exactly how many ounces it was, but I beleive it was just under 4 qts. Mine has the 11.5 inch gear. It should be 1/4 below the filler hole.

 

Fill it up til it dribbles out of the hole, put the plug in and carry on. It should take a little under 4 quarts.
