Small amount of oil in overflow bottle

I have a 1997 Dodge ctd, just noticed a little oil in the radiator bottle, Is this a head gasket or a problem with the oil cooler? The engine oil has no sign of antifreeze and does not bubble or overflow while driving!!! Any help would be appriactated so I can start adding some mods to the diesel!!!

Been there done that a year ago from boost and advance timing.
Smoked a guy that intentionally cut me off.

Highly recommend head studs

How much oil will be present in the radiatior if it is a head gasket? just drove 750 miles and only maybe a ounce or two, soaked the oil up with a towel, how do i know for sure before I rip the cummins apart, would a plugged breather do this? Thanks for all the info.

I just had a small glob. Maybe an ounce or so.
Opened tha radiator cap and found more globs. I never had anymore as I kept the boost low.
Pulled the head and found a lot of vents in the head gasket.

A plugged breather will usually just blow the dip stick.

I would say it is a tough call. An oil cooler you can test. I would normally test the cooler first.

Mine was a head gasket with bubbling in the bottle/radiator...........cummins pulled the oil cooler and found nada! I tried to tell them it was the head gasket ,but oooohhhh nooooo the owner couldnt be right. Mine was active bubbling like a volcano though. not that much oil in the antifreeze and no other symptoms
