06 Ram Urethane Control Arm Bushings
Just purchased Urethane control arm bushings for my 06 Ram. How hard are they to change. Local shop wants $800 to do the job said it is an 8 hr job.

Seems excessive
That seems a bit excessive for a shop with the proper equipment to perform such a service. I'm thinking a couple of thick steel plates across a cinder block, with an appropriate sized socket, and a hydraulic jack you should be able to do it yourself. The only problem may be the bolts that hold the contorl arms to the frame & axle could be quite corroded in which case you may need new ones but they are not that expensive. Don't forget to note where the bolt with the eccentric plate is positioned on the control arm that connects to the axle for proper axle & wheel alignment.
Good luck,..........dogger

If I remember correctly, you will have to cut one or both of the bolt heads off on the passenger side as the exhaust system is in the way too pull the bolt out. Then again you could drop the exhaust as another option...

I did mine in under an hour.
The one bolt is hard to get out, but it's not THAT hard.
I have a big impact and used it on the bolt (instead of the nut like usual) and was able to spin the bolt while holding the nut with a wrench.
The bushings pop right in and the bolts went back in easily.
Those urethane bushings make a WORLD of difference!!!
