06' Ok guys what is the scoop?
One of my mid cal buddies is having a problem putting a flatbed on his 06 3500 2 wd dually. His dealer said that they would void the warranty if he did so. He purposefully bought the 100k warranty
$2500.00 Just for "peace" of mind!
Is there seriously a problem with these trucks or is his dealer giving him the shaft??
I know it has been covered here before but I'd appreciate your help! Post haste!

Considering you can order these trucks without a bed to put a commercial bed on it, I don't think it is an issue. If I were him, I would call Daimler themselves and get the scoop. Some dealers will do anything to keep from doing warranty work because they can't gouge Daimler like they do their customers.

Sounds like a dealer problem. What do the cab-chassis guys do if they cannot install a bed? DC has a body builders guide that addresses welding and attachments. I would contact DC and get their opinion IN WRITING. Then the dealer is screwed by thier OWN opinion. Braford makes a real nice bed, maybe they can share what they know about bed installation. They might even have it in writing from DC and send your buddy the info?
Like Kodiakcb says, "some dealers will do anything to keep from doing warranty work," and I believe that DC's memos about aftermarket parts are being mis-interpretated by the dealers and taken too far. If they think you are stupid and will fall for their BS, they play it to the hilt. What they forget is that WE PAY for these trucks and they are OUR PROPERTY, very expensive property. Only an idiot would do something to screw them up anyway. Too expensive a proposition to repair, warranty or not. All your buddy need to do is get it right according to DC, he can blow off the dealer as the middleman if he goes direct. After that, he will have it straight from the horses mouth, and IF the dealer tries to pull something shady, your buddy can put the dealer in it's proper place. Set the dealer up for the fall, DC will then take care of it with the dealer.
