06 Larimie crew cab DRW

I am getting close to buying a 06 3500 DRW Long bed has 68,000 on it New tires and clean as if new. I will pull a 36' 5th wheel with it. It is at a dealer and I know the owner of the dealership. Says it is chrysler certified. This is a really nice unit. this will be my 3rd cummins I had 1st gen 12 V 2nd gen 24V any maybe this one. I will also use it as a daily driver. It has the 48RE in it and a 3:73 rear end. any ideas on what kind of mileage I might expect ? The 5er is 11,800 empty so I figure about 14,500 loaded up. I don't think I will have any issues there. Any issues I should be concerned about. Carfax is clear.

I think you might see around 10.something loaded, maybe around 18 empty. That's about what mine does, anyway, but it is a stick.

I wish I got 18. Stock I get about 12. With the Adrenaline on level 2, I'm pulling 14.5-15 at best. 10 loaded is about the same as I see.

I see a constant of 17-18 running empty. When I tow my 5th wheel, I see 12.5-13, but when you pull a barn with a barn, you can expect lower mileage. The lowest mileage I ever saw was 12, that was in high head wind. When I tow my GN's I get 14-15, but they are more aerodymanic. Keep in mind I am running a smarty jr on the tow setting, mileage was about 1mpg less running stock.

I had a 00 before the 06. It will handle you load with no problems. I would make a couple recomendations for you. After you get it change the rear. I went to a 4:10 from a 3:73. I lost just a little more than 1 mpg. There is only 200 rpm difference. Mileage running light with 3:73's was 20 at 68 mph. I'm touchin 19 with the 4:10's. Towing using the Juice and looking at engine load, the 4:10 cut 26% off the engine load and increased fuel mileage a little when towing more than GCWR. I average 11.3-11.5 towing a 65 mph with the juice set on Tow mode. (advertised 365 hp 730 ft/lbs) It's a beast in the hills, get out my way even at 65 mph. I do not engage the juice until I at 65 mph so as to not overload the tranny when starting off.

The second thing, install a Triple lock Torque Converter and valve body if recommended. My tranny runs 15 degrees cooler than stock, with the new torque converter which now has 11,000 miles on it.

Rear was less than than a grand and TC was 1800 installed. I thought that was a little high. OH well its good for life. Thats written on my paid in full receipt.
