06 hard start ?
My 2006 was having the hard start problem also, espeacially when truck was turned off hot and then cranked back up with in ten minutes or so. This went on for the first 15000 miles. When i added Quads 65HP standard module the hard starting problem has vanished, truck has 25000 miles now. I was averaging about 19 miles to gallon with module and recently added a Scotty 5 cold air and i am getting 21+ mpg now hand calculated.

I want my brand NEW truck to start with out putting a program or box on it.
All my other Cummins trucks have started in what seemed like a half of a crank or even just a bump, but my 06 seems to crank long but only sometimes
thats some good MPG's your getting tho!
Well I had them do the flash but the service writer told me it does not always fix the problem and they are due for a new flash in a month or so.
I have only had it for a day since the flash, but no hard start yet!!

hopefully I will get some better MPG's too

Had it done on mine and so far it is working (better starting). Overhead MPG went from 17.5 to 19.3.....I hope it is for real, won't know until I run a few tanks thru and hand calculate.
Man my overhead reads 15.0 if I drive like an old lady
I have only had the truck for 1.5 tanks so I hope it gets better!how are you getting such good MPG's?? how many miles do you have??
TSB 18-003-06
Flash: Long Crank When Starting And/Or Transmission Shift
And Battery Charging Enhancements
look them up here....http://dodgeram.info/tsb/2006-index.htm
While I'm going to take mine in to see if TSB #18-003-06 fixes the problem I found another way around the issue. Since the truck starts real quick normally, if it doesn't start within 2 seconds, I switch off the ignition and then restart it again. So far this has worked everytime. I obviously don't know why it would, but thought I'd point it out to others.
So, the 06 in our fleet is getting a new transmission and clutch, would this be a good time to get an aftermarket clutch to fix this hard start? I am new to this, where I can find aftermarket clutches at?
