06 front/rear differential fluid change

The dodge manual (schedule B) recommends changing the front and rear differential fluid every 15,000 miles. That seems excessive especially using the recommended 75w/90 synthetic, which is extremely expensive. I already have 30,000 on mine and on my second change. Is anyone ignoring that recommendation and changing it once a year maybe?

If you tow alot, it's cheap insurance to keep the axles happy. If you don't tow much, I don't see why you couldn't stretch it out a bit. just my .02

I'm going to change my rear every 15K & the front every 30K. Also, during the winter (it it hopefully snows a lot $$$) I'm going to go back to 15K on the front.

I just changed all mine at 38K. The axles were fine, the transmission and the transfer case needed it. I tow very little, mostly highway.

Just called the shop that I deal with and trust last week to schedule me in so I couild get it done and he said I would be wasting my money. I only tow occasionally and I thought 15,000 was a little excessive too. He said I could go 50,000 and not worry about a thing but I think ill change both diiferentials at 30,000 when I do the tranny and transfer case. He said its just DC tryin to rape people for more$$. I believe it.

Whoa now, I wouldn't recommend waiting 50K, towing or not. Really, I think it is best to get that first change right on time (at least I know I will).

I am going to change the front every other, as stated. No sense in doing it every 15K, it will hardly see any use.

I drained front and rear at 30,000. Looked like brand new. Refilled with RedLine. It'll be a lot more than 30,000 miles before I do it again.

I read on one of the TDR magazines that if you drive empty or tow very little you could wait 70K or 3 years. I'll do mine at 50K or 3 years. Of course that was in a 2005 magazine under the idle clatter section so it may be different now.

Did mine @ 12K and installed Mag Hy-Tec covers. I was very impressed with how easy it was to do in my driveway. I will probably wait till 30K before I do them again.

I did mine at 15k and should have done it at 5k as both looked like black snot. I used Mobil 1 for the change and changed it at the next 15k, and it looked like a darker olive oil, which was pretty good, so I'm leaving it in for 30k miles.
