Thumbs down 06 Check engine light on??

Yesterday morning went out to start truck to let warm up for a minute (dropped down to around 25-30 degrees) and it took three tries to get it to start. Didn't think to much about it, other than it seemed odd. Then when i jumped in the truck to head into to town (20 minute commute) the I noticed the check engine light was on. I kept going as i had to get to work. After i made it to my destination and it sat for an hour or two i started it back up the light was no longer on, and hasn't done it since?? What is the deal, i have a buddy who has an 06 that had exact same thing happen to him recently. Mine has almost 6k and his has 3-4k i'm guessing. Is this common or do i have problems, would take it in but it is busy making working.

Check to see if it stored a code. Turn the key on 3 times and it will display in the odometer window. Mine did it with 300 miles but didn't go out! All fixed now!

I had that CEL happen to me. Drove it straight to the dealer with the light still on. Their response was to reflash the ECM with TSB 18-05-06. I don't know what effect it had on the CEL, but my mileage went up about 0.5-1.0 MPG and my overhead got a lot more accurate.

I'd take it in and hope they reflash it. That's just free MPG's waiting to be picked up.

It's been reflashed once already, not sure what the actual reflash number was, but i complained about horrible mileage and hard starting when warm and that is what they did, done about a month ago. No codes when i do the three times with the key trick (unless i don't know how to do it).

Honda, I assume you waited for the wait to start light to go out. If this was the first day it has been cool in a while sometimes the sensor validation/calibration that happens when you turn the key on will be out of whack a bit. If it doesn't start the first time turn it off for a few seconds then back on and wait for the wait to start. Turn it off again and wait to start then start go. This happens on mine when you get some whacky weather in winter. It's like the ECM needs a little time to figure the changes out. ks

Yes i waited for the wait to start light to go out, i have been driving diesels forever, this isn't my first diesel rodeo, never had a brand new not start on the first try, much less the second, seems kind of odd. Seems to be running fine since then, who know's what may have caused it, i guess time will tell.

Engine Light

Thanks for the info on the engine light. Mine went on 3 days ago but I've been reluctant to go to the dealer because of all my mods. I turned the key on and off 4 times then the light was gone. Relief!!!!!
