06 AUTO first pull and the transmission is going OUT

Dang I am ******. My truck has a thousand miles on its slipping bad. I had a job I was going to and hooked up the goose and loaded the trackhoe. That is about 15,000 pounds. Went about 15 miles and started up a little hill and the slipping started. I stopped and then it would even pull itself out of the road. Well I got out and there was a aweful burning smell and the I noticed brake lights were on. They wouldnt go off so I thought my brakes had done this but I watited a few minutes and the truck would pull out of the road barely. well I un loaded my hoe and done the job and started home. Well it was the same thing slipping and a roar and no brake lights this time. I had the towhaul button on . I called the dealer and they were nice but I dont know were to go from here. Right now I wish I had my 6 speed back. It was only a 2500 but I have had alot more weight behind it than that. It pulled it fine and no problems. Plus I am getting alot worser fuel milage in this one. What should I ask the dealer to do about this? I have only had it 3 weeks.

1 thousand miles. It drives fine unloaded or just pulling a little weight. I need my truck bad and I dont want to go through this hassle. I havent put any mods on it either.

Ask for the world, and maybe you'll get a country.
Good luck!

I'm sorry to hear about this! I had the same problem with my transmission in the 06 Khaki I just traded in. My sales manager at the dealership that I bought the truck at understood what I was going through and he helped me out the best that he could. I ended up financing $1500 more than what I had with the other truck. But this one has the G56, and light package, + Long Bed, + Two Tone!!!! I really love the G56 Compared to the 48re. Go and see what the dealer says about the trade!!! Get there while the Employee Pricing is still there!!!!

Sounds like you did nothing wrong. Take it to the dealer and get it fixed or, after your 3rd visit, use the lemon law to get a new one.

Document everything you do, every phone call, expenditure, conversation, everything. In the end, if you get beefed by the dealer, your attorney will need all the paperwork he can get.

Sorry this happened but you can work it out, just keep on the dealer until you get what you deserve.

I called them again this morning and I am waiting on a call back. They must be trying to figure out what to do. I have already put a ball in the bed and new grill and a few other goodies. I dont want to lose my money on this stuff. I know things happen but I want it fixed asap. I work it gates and if we mess up a belt going to gm or any auto maker they make us fix it right then and make us pay for downtime and alot other fees sometime.

No flaming, just asking a question. Are you 100% sure the brakes were not engaged on the gooseneck? Had you done a trial run with the goose before this? A burnt tranny and burnt brakes have distinctive smells. A friend of mine rented a small 16' flatbed a couple of weeks ago. When the rental place hooked him up, they forgot to release the e-brake on the trailer. He said it was a little tough trying to put the fire out but he finally got it.

The 48re should pull the max -tow rating without slipping, thousands do it every day. There's something wrong with your tranny and possibly with your trailer brakes.

I have sean several threads on the wiring options for a 7 pin set up. It looks like there are two ways to do it, and it might just be that the trailer is set up the other way, with power to the breaks full time. Your break lights should be your big blinking sign. Why would a trans problem cause the break lights to be on??

I'm bettin that if the trans is shot, it's cause you smoked it pulling a trailer with it's breaks locked on.

Yeah, I think you're dreaming. I feel for you because I had something similar happen to my brand new 2000 F-150. That truck needed a new engine with only 13 miles on the odometer. I fought and fought to get a new truck, but in the end all they had to do was fix it, which they did. If you smoked the tranny all they're obligated to do is fix it. That's what the warranty is for.

These truck are amazing but I think with 15,000 behind it if the trailer brakes were on you would know it before you got out of the first driveway . Unless the trailer brakes are wore out of course , mine will slide the tires when they are on and I would not go very far with them on . I have over 20,000 behind my 48RE all the time and not a slip one . It has been the best auto in a truck I have ever had , you just got a bad one , get it fixed and you will be in love again in no time .

I was hoping it was a brake issue but when I pulled it home I watched the brake controller and no lights or problems. I dont know why the lights were on the first time. I was pulling it home and the futher I got the more it slipped. That was only 5 miles. I am glad I didnt have any hills I dont believe it would have made it. There was a buzzing slipping sound coming from under the truck everytime I gave it throttle.
