06 5.9 fuel filter
Look on the drivers side under the hood. It`s about half way down on that side of the engine. The top is black I think. It takes an inch & 1\8 socket. Screw off the top & replace the fillter. There is a yellow lever to drain the fuel on the side. Put the top back on & crank it up. Check for leaks & thats it.
Drain the fuel in the cup first, then if there is sediment in there it will drain out and hopefully not go past the filter when you are changing it. The filter is held on by plastic clips on the bottom of the cap. you have to depress a few to get the filter off. Pop your new one on and replace the cover o-ring and you should be ready to go. Oh yeah, some filter have an o-ring the size of a quarter on the bottom. Make sure it came out with the old filter if not attached.
Make sure you use a good 7 micron or smaller rated fuel filter (like the Baldwin PF 7977 or Fleetguard Stratapore) as some places still sell the old 10 micron fuel filters. FYI Cummins stopped using 10 micron fuel filters back in June of 2006 and wants all CR engine to use 7 micron or smaller filter. If you use a filter other then the 2 listed above make sure its also a water separator and it can strip the water out of your fuel.
