06 2500 has 10.5 AAM?

The website specs the 10.5 AAM even after the Cummins option is checked, so I called Dodge to see if this was a mistake. They said that it was accurate.

You have to get the 3500 to get the 11.5 AAM with the Cummins now.

Can anyone verify that this is true or not?

I'd like to see what a cummins could do to a 10.5" when it's got 30,000lbs behind it.

That's what I thought, and was hoping to find out. I have been shopping a new Megacab for about a month now, and I saw that this morning and got a little concerned.

I can't believe Dodge made a mistake

I went through all this while researching my '05. It turned out that the 10.5" AAM axle is for heavy duty gassers only. All CTDs get the 11.5". I can't believe they still haven't fixed their website!

10.5 rear axel

My window sticker said 10.5 too. Is there a way of visually seeing the difference?

Go to www.yourcovers.com, and you can see examples of diff covers for each. They are both 14 bolt.

The 10.5 has a short flat section top and bottom. The 11.5 is more pointed top and bottom. Also, the ring gear is more centered in the 11.5 AAM.

Hope that helps

I'd believe the window or glove box sticker over most things.

Actually your truck probably has the 10.5 since it's an SO. To my knowledge, all 5 speed SO's had the 10.5. What does your glove box sticker say?

I remember hearing somewhere that AAM is working on a 10.5 inch front axle.
it's most likely gonna be used in the 4500's & 5500's though

The 2003 SO with autos had the 10.5, all the other diesels had the 11.5, like I do per the window and glove box sticker.

And to add to the confusion, my 2003 SO/48RE has the 11.5 gearset.
