05 locking diff?

well.. i have an 05 3500...only thing i dnt like about it is an open differential. I got a great deal on it when i purchased it, and had planned from the begingning to put a locking diff. in it. Having a hard time finding one..any suggestions would be great! thanks

Funny... I was just thinking the same thing.

I have actually searched on this topic a couple of times here... I think I came to the conclusion that no one has something out yet in the aftermarket for the third gen. Would that mean we are stuck going back to the dealer to have and OEM put in? I can see that being big $.

I was actually thinking about calling junk yards to see if someone has a scrapped 05 - 07 with low miles that I could steel the rear off of. Needless to say, I am subscribing to this thread.

I'm pretty sure that there is still no locker available for the rear except for maybe the G-locker from the chevy and that is not really an effective locker....i have the stock dodge LSD in my 06 and i have been pretty happy with it in the snow and sand (although i have read pleanty of posts from people who are not happy with it, i guess i don't expect much from a LSD!!!).

ARB has a front locker available for awhile now. It's the only locker available w/o making mods - unless something has changed in the last month. Do a search on locker in the main "3rd Generation Ram - Years 2003 and up" forums.
This is what I plan to get when I free up some money.

Can't go wrong with ARB air lockers. I have one in the front of my Jeep and love it. Now if I can only get enough money saved up to get rid of the Detroit in the rear and put one in its place.

As for the 2500, the LSD in mine seems to be doing pretty well. Left black marks on the road last weekend while the Bobcat and trailer were stuck in the yard.

As an FYI,

I decided to at least see what the dealer would charge me for installing the factory LSD. At least it's an option for me.

Quoted $947 installed ($~500 for the LSD alone).

I may pull the trigger and have this done. Starting to bother me not having it... and if I do decide to get a programmer, I am going to need it.

AAM makes the GT and the GTL lockers that are THE ONLY ones you can get for our trucks....Very not cool! I am assuming those are the ones that you can get from Dodge, cause the AAM site has no prices at all. The GTL is the electric locker and the GT is the one that comes in the anti-slip trucks from the factory. Actually, for $500 its not a bad deal. You cant get a locker for cheaper then that anywhere else.

Thoughts?
