04 truck

ok just bought a 04 4x4 lifted 37in. tires. how can i get more fuel mileage out of this truck such a programmer or tricks with this yr. model first 3rd gen. i know keep my foot out of it will help. also how reliable is this model and what the weak points. anything will help i just got rid of a 01, with 255,xxx on the clock. thanks

my o5..i have programmer, see my sig, and not much for fuel mileage differance..hand calculated, the only thing i can say is over 70 mph (2,000 rpm) it starts to drink. i believe the 04 is the 48re trans, same as mine..it is o.k, but don't throw more than 65-75 horse programmer on it.. trans is my worst complaint on the truck...

I think you'll find that driving habits and maintenance will get you the furthest. I'm going to assume it has a 4.10 gear in the rear, being 4X4. If you do the math, the break even points are 4 and 5 years out for most mods, so I'd rather just keep the money in the bank and enjoy the ride.
