04 And Confused
04 And Confused
First time member, but would like to say nice site, hope to learn alot. Have had a 01 Durasmack in the past but now I am all Cummins.
My confusion is what HP/TQ do I have on my 04. I live in Missouri and the sticker said it was an HO motor with the 4 spd transmission. I have read a couple differnt places that I might not have the 305 Hp and 550 tQ motor. Tell me this is not true??
I thought I read on one of these pages it might be a lower HP/TQ because of the automatic??
Thanks guys

Anyways, relax. But to answer your question: not true. If its an '04 HO and not the '04.5, you have the 305/555 version. The '04.5 is 325/600. The Standard Output (SO) versions had just a little less across the board.
BTW, when you get the chance fill out your sig block with what you've got. It may help next time you have a question.
If your engine code is ETH, you have the high output (305/555) engine.
You can also find this info on the Engine Data Plate. Not sure where it is on an '04 but it should be in about the same place as an '03. This is an extract for the '03 service manual:
The engine data plate contains specific information
that is helpful to servicing and obtaining parts for the
engine. The data plate can be found in two places. Some
models have a data plate is located on the left side of
the engine, affixed to the APPS bracket. Some models
will have the data plate affixed to the breather cover on
the left side of the engine. Information that can be
found on the data plate includes:
² Date of Engine Manufacture
² Engine Serial Number
² Control Parts List (CPL)
² Engine Rated Horsepower
² Engine Firing Order
² Engine Displacement
² Valve Lash Reset Specifications
If the engine data plate is missing or not legible,
the engine serial number is used for engine identifi-cation.
The engine serial number is stamped on the
right side of the block, on top of the oil cooler cavity
Hope this helps clear it up.

I think what you were reading about was the second gen. trucks. They had a different trans.(47re) that you could not get with the HO. The third gen. truck that you have has the 48re trans. that you can get with the HO. You do have the HO as stated.
