ok, Ive checked just about everything ( oil level and the like) for a reason to this smoke i get. once in a while its white at start up. most the time its blackk, , and i mean wow that truck must be puttin down some horse but is stock kinda smoke. Of course this is only at heavy throttle and if im at red light A by the time the i get to red light C it wont do it anymore. But i have no engine knock and decent mileage so i dont perfer to let dealer to get ahold of it so heres the poll
None of those really describe mine. In cold weather (30s and lower) some white smoke for the first minute or two, which is normal for any diesel.
On HARD acceleration, not too much visible during the day, but at night, I can see a bit in the headlights of the car behind me. So, I'd day over all, very little smoke in the grand scheme of things. I had mileage TSB 037 done, and use good Sunoco fuel most of the time.
But black smoke? Never, in the year I have had this truck.

I get some white smoke mornings, amount varies by how cold it is. Just a little puff if it's 70, this winter when it was -15 I couldn't see my house across the back yard from me. Ran like crap too. Black "smoke" if I've been babying it, and then get on it. I think it's just soot getting blown out of the pipe. Once it's done it, it won't do it again for a while.
