twice now i have noticed at idle my CTD seems to be running like a gas motor with a biga** cam in it, very lumpy idle. steady, but lumpy. ill drive it some more and then its all smooth. its mainly out of the exhasut pipe i notice, does not seems to shake and the tach is steady. hope i am being clear, normally a CTD has a very solid and steady exhaust note out of the pipe. twice now mine seems like it has one hell of a cam in it. injector? i dunno, only mods are 4" straightpipe into stacks, tone ring mod MAYBE 2*, silencerring removed, and BHAF. any thoughts?

 

my 03 has that rough idle sound out of my straight pipe from time to time, my buds same truck never has but still has factory exhaust, might be the lack of back pressure from the muffler

 

Mine does the same thing every now and then but goes away after a good stomping

 

I have had that sound from my straight pipe and i always wonder if something is wrong. It has happened probably 10 times in 38,000 miles

 

does yours also make what sounds like rod noise and blow black smoke at the time of the rough running? mine has done that twice.

 

negative, no rod noises or black smoke. although black smoke would look cool. maybe its some sort of vaccuum that builds up in the pipe or something having to do with exhasut pulse. i wish i was more smarter
