Thanks for the help, homewrecker. What I'm experiencing sounds extremely similar to what mj experienced so I'm hoping this will fix it. I did take the truck to the dealer about a year ago and they said they replaced the crossover tubes (I don't remember how many or which ones) and 2 injectors so maybe they didn't torque the tubes right. It won't cost me anything and it's fairly simple, so why not give it a shot, right? Unfortunately, it will probably have to wait till the weekend though.

Exactly. I try to learn from other people's mistakes.

just talked to the mechanic and he said it was the injector tubes (crossover tubes)that they tighten....i could have done that myself if i had known. i do hope that takes care off it. does your milage go south when it is acting up? Mine did.

Yeah it seems like my mileage does decrease when it runs crappy but I'm just going by the overhead. I wouldn't be able to tell from a hand calculation on this tank anyway considering all the revving to 2500 RPM and above that i've been doing for testing purposes.

Haven't had a chance to tighten the crossover tubes yet. I will work on it tomorrow and we'll see if the problem is cured. I've got my fingers crossed.

Ok, tightened the tubes and no change. Anybody know of a quick and simple way to check lift pump pressure? I'm now thinking that this could be the culprit because it did buck a little this morning in 4th gear at high RPMs. Not much, just barely enough to notice. Is that a sign of a failing lift pump?

I didn't put a torque wrench on any of them, just tightened them all. I turned all of them less than 1/4 turn.

were your fuel line goes from the FF to the cp3, i put a taped bango bolt in then i got one of those lights that tell you when the pressure drops below 5 psi. i wish i had just a gauage instead so i could see what it as doing all the time. i will end up doing that. it will tell you what the pressure is going in to the cp3.

man i hope you didn't do any damage, those connector tubes do not like to be overtightened...

Easy way to check lift pump = turn key on and listen for it to run.

Easy and cheap way to see if its flowing good fuel = take banjo bolt out of cp3 feed line from filter and put the line down in a bucket turn on key and see if its pumping fuel into bucket....
