I just read in a magazine that the '03's are available in three version's. One being the standard Cummins with two different auto's. Not the new auto for the HO. It's also available with the 5 spd. and the HO with the 6 spd. Now I was under the impression that the 5 spd was no longer. Does this mean the 5 spd fifth gear problem has been resolved? How long ago was it fixed? I was told by a HP diesel shop that DC fixed the 5 spd problem in '01. Whats the deal? <br>I realize the lock nut isnt a true fix but how about the new fully splined shaft? Has there been any problems with the 5 spd after the shaft was installed? Just wondering since there is so many 5 spd users out there.

 

The 5-speed was available for order in 03'. However, we did not sell many of them. For the 04' model year the 5-speed and the standard output Cummins has been Canceled. Your only options are the HO with either the 6-speed or the 48re auto.
