I searched around but couldn't find a satisfactory answer...The engine it self is the same-block,turbo,CP3 ect...What gives the HO the power over the SO?Is it higher boost or a combination of higher boost and injector timing or one extra hamster????

I don't know if the SO has the extra piston oil cooling or the crankcase girdle. I thought there was a difference in compression ratio, too. Craig

The HO has gallery cooled pistons. That's not what makes it have more power, but will help the pistons to run cooler while making the extra power. There are few other internal enhancements that I can't remember. Then the HOs are programmed different do deliver more fuel.

An EZ on level 2 w/boost elbow will bring the SO in line with the HO.

Also, most SO trucks have the 47RE, which some say is far inferior to the 48RE transmission. However, a recent poll on here shows they're not all that bad. Just take care of it and it'll take care of you.
