'03 safe/good bio diesel

I want to start running some kind of BD in my '03 because petro is getting close to $4/gal. What is good and safe for me to run? If it runs good in the '03 I'd like to run it in the '07 too. I've toyed with the idea of making my own but I don't want to go through the hassle if it will tear up my engine.

Officially, I believe Cummins says you can run 20% BIO-D and be OK. I've run a few tanks of 50% in my '03 in the summer with no ill effects. In fact, it runs smoother and smells better, my mpgs were about the same, if not higher (in theory should be lower by a bit though). Might want to try asking the question over on the bio sub-forum for a better response.

Oh yeah, good point. You're supposed to change the fuel filter after your first tank, as it cleans out the junk in the fuel system.
