03 with problems still

Well i posted last week how my truck would run for about two or three miles and when i come to a stop it would just die on me, and then it will start and do the same thing. Well i took it to a shop last friday and still today its not ready. They said today that they just figured out today that it was a fuel problem.I tried explaining it to them but we all know how mechanics supposely know everything.Well im wondering if the things im saying about the truck are things that usually happen when the lift pump goes out.I need this truck back by monday because its my work truck and im tired of the shop having it and not doing anything with it.If most of yall are pretty sure its the lift pump is there a pump i can buy at napa or somewhere at a local parts store that will have in stock so i can just change it out myself.I need help quick. You guys always give good advice and i appreciate it.Thanks

Hello,
My freind has a 2003 cummins. It was starting bad and not running to good. He brought it to the dealer three times. The first time they said it was the crank position sensor. Still ran bad. The second time they said it was the fuel pump. Apparently they installed a new tank pump. Still ran bad. The third time he took it in he was so mad at the dealers service department they changed all the injector for free. Now the truck runs great.
He runs off road fuel in his truck which is illegal. The dye in the fuel probably helped to kill the injectors. If you need to put in a tank pump there are some after market ones that will be better than the stock pump.

well i know the injectors were replaced right before i bought it.Ive ran nothing but red fuel in all my truck and my first 04 i had i got new and ran red fuel since the day i got it and ran it to 150 thousand and never had problems with the fuel. The 05 thats on my avatar has eighty thousand miles and i have ran nothing but red fuel and it never has had a problem. Also the lift pump i think is in the tank already, should i be able to hear the pump running when i turn the key.Im not saying that your wrong about the red fuel being my problem, i was just throwing it out there that i never had a problem with the fuel.

I'm not blaming red fuel since I run my tractors on red. I have a 95 cummins with 350k and it has been on red since day one. My freinds truck had bad injectors for some reason. I heard from a performance shop saying that the (stock injectors) for this year have had problems.

yea i heard alot of people saying that in the 03 and early 04 had bad injectors.I know they have all been replaced recently before i bought the truck and it had 77K when i got it and now it has 82K and i dont wanna take it to the dealer with all the red fuel in the system and listen to them go on and on about how red fuel will tear up a truck when i know it wont harm it.But hopefully its just the lift pump and i can have it going by monday if i can get a pump for it real quick.

on the bright side if one of your sweet truck goes in the shop it looks like you have another sweet truck to take its place.
