03 highway problem

Hey guys. I am new to the forum and happy to be here. The problem I have is with a 03 ram. When the truck is on the highway with a load on it and I let off the throttle it is ok but if I push the pedal down too quickly the engine will hitch, bang and shake like it is going to shake itself right out of the truck. It will settle itself down after a few seconds. This only happens at highway speeds with a load on. If I very slowly apply throttle after letting off it will not do this. Only when I put my foot in to the throttle quickly

Sounds like it momentarily starving for fuel. When was the last time the fuel filter was changed? Are you running the original lift pump?

Thanks for your impust. I change the filters regularly and have replaced the lift pump recently as well. I has done it for quite some time now but I dont tow that often so I am just getting around to it.

I would try running a heavy dose of diesel fuel additives, like Power Service, Howes, Redline, etc and driving the snot out of it.
Possibility of a bad batch of fuel?
Or a sticking fuel control actuator on the CP3 pump.

I have run some Performance Formula through it. This has been happening since 0 miles were on the truck and my dealer cannot find anything. I will ask them about the control actuator though.

This has been going on for four years and the dealer hasn't been able to fix it? Either you gotta get more ornery with the dealer or go find another one that knows what they're doing! That kind of behavior from a new truck is not acceptable. Hopefully you are still under your 100k engine warranty.

(BTW, Welcome to the forum and fill out your sig so we know what mods and stuff you are running)

This acutally sounds like the driveline vibration. I don't know if it has a TSB. That is when they change the angle of the driveline. It must be under a load to isolate the issue. Try doing a search for driveline shudder. I can't remember what this issue is exactly called.
