03 high idles when its not supposed too

My 03 has been going into high idle mode more and more. It used to only do it when it was cold and it sat idling for a while. Now it will do it when I stop at a stop light or when I pull into my driveway. When I put my foot on the clutch it will only idle down to 1000 rpm. It doesn't always do it but quite often. It usually idles at 800 rpm. Does anyone know what is going on or what to check?

I'll second that.

Contact Timbo01, he makes a replacement APPS that's a whole lot cheaper than the dealer.

Do you know for sure that is the problem? Is there a way to test it? Is Timbo1 a member here? How do I contact? Is it a hard part to replace?
Lots of questions ha.

Do a search on this forum for 'APPS'. Several others have reported the same issue and a new APPS fixes it. Don't know of a good way of testing this other than using a DRB scan tool.

Timbo01 is a member here.

Not hard to replace. Should be under the black plastic cover just above the CP3 injection pump.

Thanks for the help. Is there any harm in just leaving it the way it is?

No harm, but it will get worse over time.

My 03 48RE also does it. I like it for long idle situations, pain for lights and stop and go traffic. Us early guys don't have the high idle/cruise feature.
