03 eats fan belts

Does anyone have trouble their pick-up eating belts. I am guarrenteed to put one on per year. The last two have only made about 6000 miles or so. Only thing I can see is the a/c looks a little out of alignment, but I can`t move it back any further. Any experience with this anyone

I just replaced mine for the second time at 250,000. This was a Gator with over 150,000 miles and it looked great. I replaced the original at 100,000 and it looked almost new. I still have it as a spare. You have to have something misaligned or dragging or your tensioner is shot.

One other thing to check is tensioner idler pulley. I replaced mine at 200,000 and the plastic on it was worn about .040" deep. It wasn't causing any trouble, but I bet it was not too far away from trouble.

When you have the belt off, check all the pulleys for free wheeling where they should, try to look for a misalignment, and check your micro grooves for any funky spots. Good luck and let us know what you find.

It was the tensioner. The bearing was good in it, but for whatever reason it was running at an angle, causing the belt to ride up on the ac pulley. Then the ac pulley would eat the edge off the belt. I changed the whole tensioner assy. & now everything is running true. Thanks for the input fellas!
