03 DRW 6 SPD 156,000 MILES is this a problem?

I am looking to buy a 03 DRW 6spd. It has 156,000 miles on it. Does this seem like a problem to anyone? Some people are saying I will have problems with it.

Problems because of the amount of miles on it? I don't see a problem w/ 156k if its been maintained. Do any maintenance records come with it? Are they asking top dollar? Any warranty?

But from my computer screen here, that dooley looks like a dandy......

It desn't have any maintenance records. That is why I am not sure. It has the high mileage and thats why people are telling me not to buy it. Not to mention they don't think I need a truck that big. I will be using it to pull cars with. Not that often. But if I'm going to buy a truck I want it to be a truck. They are asking $21,000 for the truck and wont come down any. Haven't really talked about a warranty yet.

I did forget to mention that. It has the laramie package. 4x4 It has everything. Where would I be able to find any with the low mileage with everything? I have been looking for awhile and can't find anything in that price range. Was that price for a trade in or what?

That doesn't sound like bad price! Check out the NADA.com and see for sure.

NADA guide is BS! The dealers are paying 5-8K under NADA/KBB trade in values. And if you are paying just under "retail" NADA, they are making a home-run on the deal.

Mine loaded Laramie, 2wd, 40K miles....16K at a dealer just 2 weeks ago.

Its a 19K truck all day long. Miles are way high....their price is high....Some one drove the heck out of it, and dumped it.

I'd pass....you can find one with lower miles for that much dough.....just don't be in a rush, and look around.

S, I wouldn't sell my truck for $35k but I love it. You can pick up a Laramie 4x4 Dually with 40k miles on it for about 25k us. I think there are better deals out there. Where do you live? Check the classifieds here or put a wanted looking for a 2003 Dually 4x4, there are lots of good truck dealers on this site that might be near you or someone on hear might want to sell but doesn't want to place an ad. ks

k here goes. that does sound a little high bt i would drive it check for slop in steering and in driveline. check for excessive smoke, and fluid levels to see if it has any leaks. clean interior and body? ect. ect. a buddy of mine bought an 01-02 2wd not sure which with 200,000 miles on it and has had no problems with it except putting a lp in it. now has 270 something on it. If it has been taken care of you should be able to tell and it could be worth that much. I think my friend paid somewhere close to that and his truck was that old or a year older when he got it. just check it out thoroughly.

Yeah i'd skip on the truck too for that price. 21000 for a 2003 with 156K seems like alot to me. I bought my 2002 2500 thats in my sig one yr ago for $19,000 and it only had 40,000 miles on it. I bet you can find a truck with way less miles for the same price. Just be patient.

My 2 cents.

I traded my loaded SLT 4 x 4 for $23,500. It had 65K miles on it.
You should be able to find one well maintained like mine for around $25,000 with mileage below say 70K.

I have been looking for a while but haven't really found very much. The trucks in great shape I just don't know very much about the engine.
