03 4x4 Question
03 4x4 Question
I put the truck in 4 wd today going about 10 mph make first turn seamed like it was locked up . took it out of 4 wd and it seemed ok. Did it again and it seemed ok. Is there some problem with transfer case or maybe it was not in all the way. It felt like e brake was on. Any thoughts.
Most 4wds I have driven do this. On dry ground or pavement, the front tires trying to go the same speed as the rear makes it feel like its binding up when you turn. (something like that) I think its normal.
In 4X4 you are locking the front and rear wheels to spin at the same speed thus you should NOT be in 4X4 unless you are driving in somthing that is slick and or will allow the wheels to slide some what. Yes you should feel some brake like effect however that CTD just loves it, it's called TORQUE BABY and these engines just dish it out

Don't do that! Your "part time" 4WD system is designed for off-road or other circumstances that leave you with limited traction at the wheels.
That binding sensation WILL cause parts to break.
