03' 2500 engine runs away after installing new Air Dog pump

I've been doing a lot of plowing lately and just about finished for the night and my front wheel starts seizing up. For the past month or so I've had to plug my heater in to have it able to start on cold mornings. Once the truck is running it runs great, if I let it sit for 5 hours until the engine is very cold it typically will start up with not too much difficulty but let it sit overnight forget it! The next day I call a tow truck to bring it to a new mechanic the truck won't start because the block heater died that night too! At the shop the guy sprays silicone spray into the air cleaner and it starts up with a little effort. Later he calls and says my lift pump is dead. Hmmm, now that I think of it I haven't heard my Air Dog fp-100 in like forever! Ok cool that's good I thought I needed new injectors or something worse. I bought the truck with 50hp injectors already put in and it has a bullydog pmt too. I tell the guy oh good because 3 yrs ago I thought my lift pump was bad because my truck wouldn't start and air dog sent me a new pump but it still didn't start. Turns out it was just ice in my fuel cap vent, thus the old pump was fine. I bring him the old pump and he tells me that one is dead too??? I take it back and test it and it seems to work fine for me??? After a bit of debate with him I order a new pump next day air and guess what sounds pretty much exactly the same as the old one. The only difference is the new one is a fp-150 pump so it revs about 1000rpms more. He puts it on but then says when he starts the truck it revs out of control like it's going to blow up! Oh course it does, because nothing goes right for me. It's in his garage so I don't believe he would have out the truck in drive so I'm praying it's not the torque converter or the tranny needing a rebuild. For some reason the mechanic has no idea what's wrong with the truck. It's been at his shop for two week! It has my sander on it which means I've had to salt parking lots with a grain scoop for the past two weeks. It ran perfectly once started before I brought it there. Is there some chance the apps or tps went bad while it was just sitting there? I pray this is the case. I asked him if he checked fuel pressure and he said no. I brought it to this guy because he said he could fix it that day! There was a big storm coming the next day so I choose him,my regular mechanic said he could have it done in two days. This guy hasn't even called me in 5 days since he told me the engine runs away and he didn't know what was wrong!!! Please help me!

You got the best advise anyone here can give you...get it away from the guy that doesn't know what he is doing.

We need to know things like what codes is it throwing? That should have been the FIRST thing the guy looked at.

You talk a lot about fuel pumps but what is the fuel pressure?

If the motor is running wide open quit looking at the trans or torque converter...

It needs fuel to run...if it is wide open then it is getting too much fuel, that could be bad injectors.

Have you checked oil level? if the level is high then it is washing fuel past the rings due to a stuck injector.

Is the turbo OK? if it has lost a seal it will feed oil to the motor and it will burn it as fuel causing a run away.

How does he shut it off if it is running away? does turning the key off do it? or is he cutting off air some how to kill it?

We need to know specifics if we are too help.

It's just very hard to armchair it from here. It is very hard to say what is wrong. I doubt the fuel pump has anything to do with it. Something else is going on. Weird problem. I wish I could be more help.
