03 2500 auto tranny shifts hard
This is my first time on this awesome website. Purchase 03 2500 Quad HO with 37K. Change all fuilds and drop tranny pan vice flush to R & R fuild. Nothing out of the ordinary in the filter or pan.
Problem: After driving interstate speeds then stopping for a short time 10 -15 minute, when driving next the tranny shift's are hard, both up and down 2nd to 3rd and 3rd to 2nd. This was the same case before the fuild change. I have search this website for more info.
I would appreciate any help. Bad Torque converter?????

Hi, Okie,
I'd have a hard time deducing that. I have a 2500 '03 also, and I'd only describe the shifts as hard or firm when the transmislsion is at low speeds. Under WOT, it slips so much that I avoid it.
Around town, it's formulaic: the shifts at part throttle seem to be based on speed and nothing else.
Hard shifts are GOOD. Mushy shifts, like WOT on my truck or TC/gear indecivesness, are not good.
When climbing, I wait for it to drop out of OD or loosen up the TC and start "hunting," and then I turn it off.
I will now back off and let other more experienced members add their comments.
