your opinion on this truck

I have the opportunity to purchase a truck that to me is the best of both worlds. its a 98 quad cab on a 2002 chassis. It has the 98 12v with the 6 speed behind it. Everything is hooked up and works. Truck is driven daily. Has right around 100k on the motor.
What is concerning me is after speaking with the owner it seems the truck wants to " float" around on the road after they put new tires on the truck which could be a number of things AND they admitt it does not run like a 12v should. They say it doesnt run bad at all and they do pull a big trailer with the truck so it cant be too bad but it could run better. Seems it had a bunch of aftermarket stuff on the motor and they took it all off.
what would you look out for on this truck?

Why a 2002 chassis? They're the same as the '98s.

all that added up would make me look for another truck. Yea it's the late 12v, but taking on someones project is always a suprise. And mods taken off isn't all that great to know, but if the price was low i'd take a good look.

THE 02 was not wrecked but stolen and stripped down to the frame. from what I understand it was a rolling chassis minus engine. He had a good 98 truck hit in the rear so he just swapped parts over to build it on the 02 chassis.

For 10k you can do a lot better than a half and half truck that's been piece-mealed together, IMO... no telling what kind of surprises you're going to find with that kind of a "project".

i think you made a good decision. anything like that is asking for trouble IMO. even if a person is being completley honest with you, they may forget about little quirks or bubba jobs they had to do so things would work/fit. he already admits it dosent run correctly, and id be wary even if it DID run correctly. when people start peicing together things thats when i turn and run

I agree... good pass.

I got my truck (See sig) with 220k on the clock for $8K... all it needed was tranny work. Shop around... you'll find a deal. Personally I'd rather have a nicely running half million mile truck than the one you originally posted.
