Worn contacts? Not talking about the starter...

I was wondering if anyone has ever experienced a problem like this... Every once in a while when I drive the truck I notice a faint, long, deep beep sound. Most people wouldn't even notice it, but I listen to everything on my truck. I never thought anything about it.

The other day, I was sitting in my truck with the key in the "ON" position and listening to the radio. The truck was off. I notice my EGT gauge starts acting erratically, with the needle going up to 1600+ degrees. I'm like, hmm... So I turn the key to the "OFF" position, and then back to the "ON" position so I can finish listening to my song. Well, it fixed the EGT gauge, but to my surprise the radio was a lot louder! I didn't change the volume or anything.

So there must have been something that caused my EGT gauge to act up. This is really weird because it's starting to link some things together. A day later I was driving my truck and heard the faint beeping sound again. This time instead of ignoring it I paid attention to my volt gauge and noticed the needle was right at 14 volts. So I pull over, turn off the truck, and restart it. I drive off and notice the sound was gone and my volt gauge was now reading a hair over 14 volts. Ever since, I have paid attention to my volt gauge while I drive and notice it reads a hair over 14 volts. So that must be its normal position.

All battery terminals and cables are clean, including the starter and positive cable that goes into the fuse box under the hood. I have not checked the grounds at the chassis and block though.

Any ideas as to what could cause this? Could it be a relay or switch contact wearing out somewhere? I was thinking, maybe sometimes when I hear the sound while I drive, there's actually something going on but it's not noticable because the alternator kicks in and supplies power to the truck. And that I only noticed it when the truck was off and listening to the radio.

From: North Carolina or Kentucky. Take your pick
Look at the brushes in alternator! Check the grounds also. Take the alt off and have it bench tested. On vehicle testing is problematic.
