Wipe New

99.9% of the As Seen On TV stuff is junk but this stuff seems to work.
The black placic bumper cap on my rig was more of a grey mottled one.
I tried Mothers back in black, Turtle wax stuff, marine preservative, armor all, and even black leather dye. Nothing would last more than a month or two.
I bought a bottle of Wipe New when I saw in a local drug store figuring it was worth 10 bucks to try. I did a quick one coat on it figuring I would have to come back at it again....that was last fall. So 7 months and counting and my bumper is still looking good.
This weekend I have to do a full cleaning of the truck and I plan on recoating all the exterior plastic. It works good on the grey stuff too since it goes on clear.

Good to know, I've used the Mothers "back to black" for a number of years and like it but if the wipe new is that much better I'll try it if I can find it. Mothers used to be available from Amsoil in Canada now it's only available from Amsoil in the US so I'm thinking more protectionism, getting a little sick of it.

Same here, all the stuff I have tried disappears in a few days, but we get a lot of rain.

Good info...

I'm leery of any "miracle" product. And for good reason too, because there is no such thing. There is always a hidden variable that the consumer has to find out on their own.
I remember someone I know using something similar to Wipe New about 15 years ago. Yes, it looked great when applied but after a few months, it started looking uglier than it did before the product. Turns out, it was just a glorified type of clear coat which was able to be hand wiped on but wasn't able to stand up to normal sun and weather.
Not saying this stuff is the same, but I'll remain guarded.

I'm also leary of miracle products. If they work they will probably make your ears fall off or cause every tree you drive by to lose leaves.
But so far it still looks great. Lots of rain, many washings a mild winter and a few 90 degree days.
