I like that block heater plug thing. I think i might have to try to build a bracket for it and mount it somewhere up front. I finally got my front airlocker hooked up and ready to go that was my main winter project. I'm trying to hold off on the clutch i dont want to spend the money on that untill next spring. How do you guys like the optimas? I was looking at the odyesse batteries. There big one has more juice then the comercial yellow top. Problem is its half an inch longer then the battery boxes. Any ideas how I can still use that battery? it also weighs like 70pounds. think the plastic can hold that?

I was debating about putting in my winter front here all ready... Morning temps are right around 35*F already... Shoot! I was stand out on highway 95 till 3am last night (working a truck accident) and it was right around 50*F. But that was down at about 1,900 feet. Back towards my place is about 3,000 feet and much colder!

Where is the block heater extension cords at???

depends on where you want to mount it. The metal behind the plastic is more then heavy enough. However if you mean the black part of the bumper on top theres no metel under that but i still think its thick enough. I'm going to hunt for a more out of sight place unless you open the hood

When you get that plug for the block heater in can you measure the overall diamater and the hole size needed to mount it for me? I'd like to see if I can find a home for it befor I buy one.

I think Geno's sells a kit to mount the block heater plug in the front bumper; called the wigidigit or something along those lines. It has a cover to keep the garbage out when not in use. Some have used it and it seems like the way to go. Take a look.

Thumbs up Wigidigit

Just looked at Geno's, and apparently, this is for 2003 and up; not sure why it wouldn't fit older trucks though, unless it's designed for a specific mounting location?? I think this looks like a good idea also. Will try and remember to call Geno's in the morning and ask some questions!

if your running 15-40 the oil has to be above 10 degrees to start the truck so I plug the block heater in anytime its suposed to be below 20. The block heater will keep the oil above 10 degrees down to 0 degrees. At 0 degrees a thermacouple on the oil pan said 14degrees. If it gets below 0 I have a magnetic heater that I slap on the bottom of the oil pan. That was the old prodcedure. Now I just put in 5-40 for the winter. good down to -20degrees. This is all in fairenhiet.
