Winters coming- are ya ready??

Taking the kids and GF into the mountains camping this week. Hoping for frost on the bags. Made 'em bow and arrows. They use them for pry bars, walking sticks, poke sticks and worm squashers.
They start school soon - giving them one last dose of the backcountry before they do.

(who really wants it to be snow on the bags...)

I don't mind the heat, 90's and such.....the humidity around here this year was horrible!! Go into work at 7:30 and so humid sweat starts to pour and the temp is only 80!! Starting school?? I think my kids have been in school for a month already. It's weird how everyone has different times for school...big differences.

Well my alternator died and took my weak batteries with it. So now I'm closer to being all ready for winter...
I wanted to get Red Tops, as I have been very happy with them in the past, but didn't have the cash for them at the moment. Sometimes it is not good being self employed. I just got the 72 month O'Rilley batteries. $340 after the core charges.

Got new batteries early in the spring, new starter in May, good anti freeze, got oil filters and fuel filters from Geno's got diesel 911 laying in the back seat, got new set of chains, (2wd) got a wedge blocks to lift the duals up so I can put the chains on, got a new ice scraper with a brush small shovel.
To do yet.
get 2 buckkets of sand, fill the old waterbed at the end of Oct. and get it ready to freeze. Check the block heater, get the generator hooked up for the block heater. Get 2 flat card board boxes for the radiator block offs and installthe winter fronts. Put the cold weather clothes inthe truck along with some eat goodies. Then I should be good to go. Come on winter haha

Ill have to probably address new batteries around October every thing is done for winter i got all the little annoying leaks stopped and sealed up good. only thing i would like to do is the plug for the block heater hard mounted some were on the bumper something like this little guy here I think i can use a whole saw on the side of the bumper and make it look nice and not hanging on the front bumper rubbing the paint off all winter.

I was over on the western slope here this past weekend. Woke up to 26 deg and snow on the ground. Got home and the mountains behind the front range all have snow on them and the weather man said more later this week. I think I heard that copper mountain or one of the other ski areas up by there were going to try and be open mid October.
