Why Do The 02's Fall Into A Parts Twilight Zone?

It's like the 02's are some weird aberration when it comes to tracking down exterior and interior accessories.

The wife ordered a replacement mirror for my passenger side and the piece that arrived did not fit.

I'm trying to track down Pocket Style fender flares with zero luck and I can't seem to find Husky Molded floor-mats for an 02 2500 Reg cab either.

Did they change the body style that year?

Anyone else noticed this or am I not looking in the right places?

They changed the body style on 02 1500. The 2500/3500 didn't change until 03. Try using 2001 when asking for parts.

Yep, like slim said, the 1500s changed to the new style, but the 2500/3500s waited a year. Some places don't offer the choice for 1500,2500,3500, and thats usually when there are problems (or when the parts guy does ask and just hears ram).

Good luck with the fender flares. No pocket style ever made for these trucks. The space between the front fender and the door is not enough. There are only two companies that offer anything close enough to do any good.

I just ask for 99 parts for mine. You gotta be smarter than they are.

That's the only way to do it.

It's the price we pay for getting the last of the real Diesels.

My old 97 F250 had the same problem, so I alwayes asked for the 96 model parts.

haha it took me a minute to figure this issue out as well. Was getting very frustrating.

My biggest concern is that there may have been a part changed in '02 that won't fit if I keep telling the parts people I need stuff for an '01. There probably isn't, but it's just a nagging suspicion in the back of my head .

I was looking at the Warn FFs also, I need around 2"s to cover the tires.

This shows up everywhere, catalogs especially. The 02 2500 differs from the 02 1500 body and everyone confuses the models. Try asking for 01.5 parts and watch the looks you get! Cabela's has mats you can get in pairs for your truck, just ask for the quad cab front mat set only. You won't get the rear mat or have to buy it as a set. Good luck, Kurt

Same here, just always tell them it is for a 2001 and it all works out.

A friend of mine has a late 94 Ford with the Powerstroke. Kind of like the half years. It has a ton of 94 specific parts. 95 and 93 won't work. He has a 7 rib serpentine belt. SEVEN!!!!!! You just have to know your truck better than they do.
