what to look for?
I am going with a friend to look at a 02 3500 dually with an auto and 4wd. The truck has 160,000 miles on it what can I look for when I go to check it out. The price sounds too good to be true at 5,000 so I wanna make sure there is no major problems hiding. Thanks in advance for the help. also how do I check the codes?
price sounds good I picked up an 01 3500 with over 200k and I paid 7k for it and thought I got a deal,
there are people on here WAY more knowledgable than me but from experience and reading on here, figure on a VP 44 sometime soon, (I would buy one with the money your friend is saving on the truck,
also the lift pumps are garbage when I bought mine I bought a new lift pump and changed it out immediately
rust is something to look for especially around the shore area, mine was pretty obvious,(doors, lower rocker) these trucks develope oil leaks from the trans coler lines, and the part is on eternal back order, one can be made by yourself or a decent shop so dont let a fluid leak scare you,
anyways the codes can be read by turning but not starting the truck (on,off,on,off, and then leave in the on position or by a code reader bought from autozone or such, hope this helps
ball joints go quite often as do the front rotors
