Decided that my beloved Ram had to go, mainly due to the fact i cant import it to Spain, and the cost of diesel now here in the UK is now $2.60 per LTR...!!!!!!!....That's $11.80 per gallon, there is real public unrest in the UK at the moment about the cost of fuel,(govenment takes 70% of total cost in taxes) and the soon to be implimented 100% rise in car tax.

So she has gone................Now got a Durango, (stop laughing) gets marginally better MPG, but had it converted to run on LPG/petrol so now a true dual fuel car, and i can imort it to Spain, which is the important thing for me...........

Really miss the load capacity the Ram had, but it's a compromise, trade off, what ever you like to call it, least ways still sticking with the brand, so not all bad

I know the fuel cost is high in UK. I see news on the truckers over there freaking out over the price. Protesting, etc. I thought it was around 9 US dollars for a gallon. 11.80 is insane.

 

The price is now going up daily already gone up $.10 this week.
There was an interview on the news yesterday with a haulier, and he was saying, his fuel bill had gone up by £42,000 since October last year, thats something like $80,000+, it's total madness, really think theres going to be real trouble all round the world.

Just wondering why you couldn't import the truck to spain? You said that you could the other one? I guess at those fuel prices it might be better to keep it home.

 

We are moving to Spain to live, as soon as ( If ) we sell our house here in the UK.
The Spanish authorities have introduced a new law at the begining of the year which states " No commercial vehicle 4 years or older can be imported/registerd in Spain.
Even tho my truck was not registered as a commercial vehicle in the UK, it was registered as a PLG, the same as a car, the Spanish do not accept this and they would classify it as a commercial regardless, hence the new law would take effect.
You can import any car of any age.(as long as it's LHD )......does not make sense to me

life sucks big time...........personaly i cant wait to leave the UK, and changing the Ram for a Durango is a small price to pay

 

I do walk into town often, as for public transport here in England, it does not really exist outside of the big metrpolitan city areas. Think that what bugs me the most, the Govenment bleets on about how everyone should be using public transport, dont know what they base this on, our buses are expensive, and our railway system is 100 years old, and falling apart as well as being the most expensive in Europe, never runs on time, and more often than not, the connecting train you want to catch, has been canelled, broken down, or there is a fault on the line somewhere, so you see i'm very bitter....living in the Shires/sticks does have it's drawbacks and cars are essentual for weekly shoping etc..................

 

Stick around ade's, I for 1 love to hear from our brothers (and sisters) who live outside our borders. Gives us an insite on how the rest of the world lives. Also info that it not spoon fed to us by our news media.

i know first hand how you feel. i was in london in september on a 2 week party trip. and man the railway system there is just freakin confusing. and expensive.

we travelled to an air port outside of london by bus to catch a flight to ibiza spain. and we didn't see any public transportation other than busses to major cities.

what part of spain are you moving to>?

Truth is i love my country, but have no respect for it anymore, and i think thats really sad...........

Moving down to Almeria, right on the south coast, least ways we should have some decent weather, and a lower cost of living.
