Uggh! Another Melted Headlamp Question!!
Uggh! Another Melted Headlamp Question!!
My Turn !! lol..I was in the middle of South dakota at about 2:00AM & the headlights went out..I was on the freeway at 65mpg pulling a trailer with my 1994 dodge diesel..I flickered with the h/l switch & they turned back on..today I removed the dash trim and found the wiring harness plug to the h/l switch somewhat melted..I've hit the search and came up with hours of reading here...My question is: Is there a "Sticky" somewhere with the procedure for the repairs,& the links for the parts to order?? I'll have to replace the harness plug, because its deformed..I need this truck to last me 10 more years or so..hehe..its only got 210,000 on it..thanks in advance !! RD
i can't help you out with the procedure or part numbers
BUT . . . .
once you have it replaced i would HIGHLY recommend running a relayed headlight setup. you can build a harness quite easily yourself which would use the dash switch to trigger relays which power the bulbs instead of the switch powering the bulb. i bet this would solve your problem once and for all
read more here. this is just one section of the website which has a wealth of information about lighting. happy reading.
