Turbo

I was going up a mountain on hwy 40 in Tennessee. When I heard a loud pop and air rushing like when you disconnect an air hose. Then lost power. I think it is something with the turbo. Any ideas. And my dash turbo light is on.

If not a hose, possibly the intercooler... What year is your truck?

I bet it is a loose clamp that let a boot slide off.
Check every boot / clamp from turbo to intake horn

I understand about the learning part - we all had our first diesel truck at one time. If the above suggestions don't pan out, ask the mods to move you to the correct forum for your model year - you may get more answers there. It was your mention of a turbo warning light on the dash that got me wondering about the year, as we don't have those before '98.5, and possibly not between '98.5 and '02.

Turbo.

I found the problem with the turbo. It was a broken hose clamp. Very easy quick fix. Thanks for the advice
