Track Bar 2001 Ram 2500 4x4 problems

I can't get a wrench to fit the bolt on right front side of track bar on 2001 Ram 2500 4x4. It is not rounded off. A 17mm is too small, 18mm is too big; 11/16 is too small, 3/4 is too big. I'm wondering if it is a 23/32 but this would be a really rare wrench size. The left side is a tie rod end which a 13/16 wrench fit perfectly.
Can anyone please help??

Yes what you need to do first is take the 24 valve out sell it, then sell your body, frame and what not. Then go buy a first gen and then we can help you out.

Or post in the right section?

Try an adjustable wrench yet?

Thank you for your lack of help. Your professional attitude (or lack of was greatly appreciated.) Thank you for your help and witty insight. By the way an adjustable wrench will just round the bolt off. But thank you so much for all your input.

When did you decide that ridiculing new members for making a simple mistake on forum posting was proper etiquette here on DTR?

Don't you think you could have been more helpful by simply clicking on the report this post button so we could be alerted he had it in the wrong forum, thus giving someone who actually WANTED to help a chance to do so?

Or maybe telling him the proper place to post it just wasn't as much fun as trying to jerk his chain a little eh?

I honestly have to say I expected a lot better out of you of all people.

I can assure you it's not a 23/32. If theres rust on it, try tapping on (not POUNDING) the 11/16 which is a tiny bit bigger then 17mm, If I remember most of the parts on my front end (98) came apart well with standard sockets. Are you talking about the bolt facing forward on passenger side, or the "ball" joint end?

I don't see where I went wrong? I suggested what I thought was proper. Futher more I mentioned that posting in the proper section would help. If I owned a 24alve what I suggested is what I would do. It's personal choice or are you suggesting I cannot have a personal opioion ? I understand that a socialist runs your country but I'm not allowed to have a personal option? Thanks for drawing me out while attempting to help a fellow

I dont see where he posted in the wrong section- a 01 is still a 2nd gen even with its 24v engine. Anyway, I had to use a pipe wrench and a really long breaker bar on mine and buy a new nut. and make sure to leave it on the ground other wise you will need a come along to get it back in place.

I know mine was a 17 MM.............. I would assume a 2001 would be the same as a 97.

I also suggest pounding the 17 on.

Not that this is going to be to much help, but I did my '00 trackbar last night and mine was 3/4. I had to thin down a boxend wrench on the grinder to get to the nut. Good luck!!

Are you saying that this response is what you consider to be the proper response to the simple question on what size wrench to use?

Actually you sarcastically asked him a question...it was his first post here, he put it in the wrong forum by accident because he doesn't understand forum protocol like you do. Trying to humiliate him for making a simple mistake is NOT trying to help anyone.

I have no problem with you suggesting to use an adjustable wrench, feeling the need to belittle him prior to that is the problem.

Ok you got me here I have no idea what personal option you are looking for or talking about here. We are not talking about options we are talking about abusing new members who make a simple mistake.

My pleasure I am hoping it will help to teach you something so I don't have to ban you from the forum and at the same time serve as a lesson so others can see the kind of stuff that is not allowed on this forum.

This forum was originally started because we got tired of being on other forums where new users were ridiculed for asking simple questions, questions that had been asked before or in the wrong place and bullying members thought the fun way to respond was to give them hell because they accidentally screwed up.

We do not tolerate such behavior here and we never will. If you find you can not respond in a courteous manner then just don't respond at all.

What about one of those special sockets that are designed to be used on many different sizes of nuts/bolts? They look like a 3/4 or 7/8 socket but are filled with spring loaded pins.

I've never used one but thought they looked interesting.

Russ, on some of the other forums that behavior is the accepted norm..New guys are not part of the clique so they get ridiculed for just about anything simply because some of the members think it is fun.

Sometimes guys are just joking in which case they use smileys or even say JK after wards to let a guy know it is all in fun, we are all good with that as well

I think what those fellows forget is they were the new guy once as well and if you give em a little time they become the valued old timers too....providing they don't get insulted on their first post and run off..... which is why we frown on that type of behavior here

But you already know that
