I think the edelbrocks wouldn't be a bad choice, although maybe a little more expensive than others. My dad has them on his Ranger and they made a huge difference over stock. If you don't tow or haul much, I'd go with a D load range tire instead of E, they'll help your ride out a bit more too as the sidewalls are a little more forgiving. My buddy has the same suspension as me (other than cheapy rancho shocks) and it rides much better than mine with D range tires. I still have the E's on mine that came with it.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe that Edelebrock has an AIS shock available for the diesel trucks (GVW-8800#) I already made that mistake with some Monroe Sensatracs that blew out pretty quickly on mine. Bilsteins seem to be the preferred shock for a smoother ride.
3rd gen rims work just fine on our trucks. You should try to find a set of aluminum ones over a steel set because the lug area is thicker and will give you more clearance for the center cap to pop on.
Call around to look for some factory take-off's if you don't mind the stock size tire(265-17) There are some great deals out there if you look.
Hope this helps.
