Tires

Hello
Bought my 1st 3/4 ton, just had 1/2 tons before. I do realize 3/4 ton is heavier, was wondering what would be a good tire for it and size. I have a 99 dodge 2500 Cummings. I have 265/75/16 bfg all terrains on it.
Winter is around the corner need something to stick to the pavement.
thanks

I have good luck with my Yokohama Geolandar ATS when plowing deep heavy snow.. they spin a bit but always find something to grab onto.

I had terrible luck with my BFG's, so I now run Cooper Discoverer ST's. Really happy with mine in 235-85R16.

You want to make sure you get an E rated tire to utilized the carrying capacity of the truck, typically more expensive, and harder sidewalls, but needed if you carry significant weight.

I do know there are some D rated ones that have the capacity as well, but you are safe with all E rated tires.

If you had 265/85-R16s on your '99, then the rims are too wide for 235/85-R16s. The 265s are the stock size, and you can stay with those if you're happy with them. I've tried 255/85-R16s and I'm currently running 285/75-R16s.

Generally I prefer the taller profile of the 85 series tires, but the 255/85s were barely wide enough for these stock aluminum rims. 265/85s would be better, but nobody makes that size.

whatever you get, make sure they are load range E, zero budge and zero flex in high speed turns while carrying weight. Check this pict out with 2 yards of wet playground sand @ 4250 pounds
I love my cooper STT's
